Kicker

That earlier page was getting crowded, ugly, and I didn't like it. In short, Kicker is a novel I wrote in one month. My inspiration was a writing assignment I'd received a couple years ago and consisted of the phrase "Triplets on a Bed in New Jersey," the title of a photograph I've never seen. I decided to make the triplets identical twin girls and a fraternal brother. The story would be about how the boy, Chester, would react to having his role in life, that as protector of the twins, be taken from him as his sisters grew up. It would be my first character-based novel, with a story line instead of a plot.

For a lark I thought I'd try writing in first person, present tense. I'd never done that before, and since that wouldn't be challenging enough, I wanted to do it from both Chester's point of view as well as one of his sister's.

Someone who read it called it funny, and that made me happy.

This page details my progress doing a one month edit of the novel. As if.

These pages detail my October planning stages and my thoughts during November, when I wrote it.

Kicker, the novel

Here you can see a fairly short summary of the story, and can help yourself to the first draft chapters. This page will take you to a summarizing program's selection of sentences it thought crucial or something.
