No More Magic
First, I didn't even know she was dead.
Second, I think this is a great idea, but I don't live in Salem.

I got excited, at first, thinking we'd be getting new kilogram, but by the end of the article they weasel out and say we'll be using the platinum-iridium plum for the forseeable future.
I was hoping to lose some weight.

Okay, this is a few days old, but I've been negligent.
Our friend Bigfoot knows no borders. It turns out there's a Canadian variety (described as "hairy") but no pictures yet that I can find. The guy who took the movie of the beast is waiting for...money, but he's shown it to his friends.
I think it would be great if these creatures existed, but we never seem to find any actual evidence that can't have been faked.
Fortunately, this isn't the case with my favorite animal, whom I'm convinced exists.

I see it isn't any more: I wasn't quick enough.
Still, more important than paying Uncle Sam, don't forget about the Titanic, which also sunk on this date. As bad as that was, the General Slocum disaster was far worse, at least in terms of American lives lost.
It involved a ship on fire in the East River, with many people unable to wade to shore and safety.

When i was growing up Caltech used to pull pranks. Then, everyone started worrying about security and safety and everything, and I think it dropped out of favor.
But, leave it to a good old-fahioned rivalry to bring it back into focus.
My brush with greatness? Caltech had awesome Halloween parties.

Okay, they've had a third quake near Sumatra.
Call me jaded. I've lived through several, as have these poor souls. I'm no longer much interested in any they have that are under seven on the scale. This has moved from "news" to "commonplace."
Still, last night I watched this show (I think) and there was mention made of early humans having no explaination for diasters. We habitually ask "why?" following a natural disaster, and holy men took to answering the question. Not surprisingly, the answer often involves punishment. All the best gods have no reason to control their anger, nor reason to mitigate their justified tnedencies toward negative reinforcement.
This still occurs.
And, if things aren't bad enough, it looks as if one of my all time favorite books (Adam's Hitchiker's Guide) doesn't translate well to the big screen. I have no experience with this critic, though.

I've never been a fan of the Death Comes in Threes theory, mostly because I never know when to start counting. It would be a huge failure to begin with the second or third of a series, and I never have any idea who died first.
Still, lately we've had the Pope, Johnny Cochran, and Prince Ranier.
While the ceremony in Rome will draw the world's powerful, only the lawyers will get this guy.
Now, is Saul Bellow the start of another series, or number two or three from an existing one?

You know, this kind of thing wouldn't keep happening if I published my writing.
Damn. I could use the ten grand.
I bet the guy who found the World's Oldest Porn got some money, too.
And...good news! B15A, that mighty iceberg, is back on the move! Penguins everywhere rejoice.

It may be that we're going down the wrong track, what with that archaic Tsunami Warning System stuff. Leave it to the people who suffer to come up with a better answer.
Now, why didn't we consider advanced technology? Measuring the distance from a floating buoy to the seabed is so 20th Century. Also, we may be able to some way cool ray guns out of the business!
Bzzzap!
